A hat for a newborn is one of the first things that should be in a child's wardrobe. It is even better if such a cap is tied with your own hands. This thing will transfer your love and care to your baby. Even a beginner knitter can knit a simple cap. The main thing is to be able to knit air loops, single crochet and crochet stitches.

Instructions
Step 1
The hat is designed for a head circumference of 35-37 cm. From the air loops, tie a chain about 30 cm long. Continue knitting with double crochets. Tie a rectangle 10-11 cm high. Break the thread.
Step 2
Tying the back of the cap.
Fold the resulting rectangle in half. Measure 4, 5 cm on both sides from the middle and mark these points with contrasting threads or pins.
Step 3
Knit the first row of the back with double crochets. In 2-4 rows on both sides, add one double crochet. Tie additional posts from the base of the outermost post. Knit 5 row without additions. The width of the canvas should be 9-10 cm. Further, in each odd row, make decreases on both sides, one column at a time. The lines on the side of the cap and the back should be the same length.
Step 4
Align the edge of the side and back of the beanie. Connect them in single crochet. The hook is carried out at once in both parts of the cap. The seam should look like a pigtail. The seam on the cap should run along the outside.
Step 5
Do not pull off the thread. Knit single crochet along the fold of the cap and sew the second seam in the same way as described above. The thread should be at the bottom of the cap.
Step 6
It turned out the base of the hat. You can leave the hat as it is by tying the strings. But in order for the hat to turn out smart and beautiful, it needs to be decorated.
Step 7
Tie openwork lace along the braid seam for decoration. To make the lace beautifully shaped, the edge can be tied with a picot or "crustacean" step. You can also decorate the hat with ribbons, bows, embroidery if you wish.
Step 8
To give the cap a beautiful shape, it can be tied with crochet columns in a circle, pulling the thread a little or knitting each 4th and 5th column together.
Step 9
In order to make strings, take a chain of the required length from the edge of the cap with air loops. Tie one row with half-columns - the tie is ready. Tie the second one in the same way. Tighten the knots on the ties well, cut the threads and thread. Steam off the cap with an iron. The product is ready.
Step 10
To crochet a simple baby hat without crochet, attach the working thread to the hook. Create a slip knot on the crochet hook using one end of the yarn. Do not cut the loose end of the yarn before knitting. It will indicate the beginning of knitting. It will always be from the end of the thread. The part of the yarn coming out of the hook will be called the working thread.
Step 11
Make 2 stitches from the eyelet on the crochet hook. Next, form a ring by knitting 6 single crochets into the second loop from the hook. Then close the row with the connecting post by inserting the hook into the base of the first post. This will tie the first row. The second from the hook is the first chain stitch.
Step 12
Work single crochet into each stitch of the previous row to form the second row of the beanie. Work 2 single crochets into each of the stitches of the previous row, then use a connecting stitch to combine the first and last stitches. When the second row is knitted, you have 12 single crochets.
Step 13
Mark the last column with a different color of yarn to avoid confusion at the beginning and end of the row. Single crochet in the third row by making one stitch and single crochet in the first stitch of the second row, and then 2 single crochets in the second. To the end of the row, work 1 single crochet in every odd stitch, and 2 in every even stitch. At the end of the row, you should get 18 single crochets. Then move the marker to the last single crochet at the end of that row.
Step 14
Continue raising as you knit the fourth row. First make one chain stitch. In the fourth row, you need to knit 1 single crochet in the first and second loops and 2 single crochets in the third loop of the previous row. Continue this sequence until the end of the row, then close it with a connecting post. You should have 24 stitches. Move the marker to the last column of this row.
Step 15
Start knitting the fifth row. As in the previous rows, the distance between the increments must be increased by 1 loop. Accordingly, in the fifth row, the increase will be made in the fourth loop of the row. At the end, close the row with a connecting post. In the fifth row, you get 30 single crochet. Remember to mark the end of the fifth row with a marker.
Step 16
We tie the last 4 rows. In rows 6 through 9, continue to increase the distance between the increments by 1 single crochet. In row 6, knit 1 single crochet in the first 4 loops and 2 single crochets in 5. Repeat to the end of the row and close it with a connecting post. In row 7, knit 1 single crochet in the first 5 loops, and then 2 single crochet in the fifth to the end of the row. In the 8th row, an increase will be made in every 7th loop, and in the 9th row - in every eighth. At the end of row 9, there should be 54 loops. Mark the last column of each row with a marker, and close all rows with a connecting post. Begin each new row with a chain stitch.
Step 17
We continue knitting on row 10. There is no need to make increments here; in each loop of the previous row, knit 1 single crochet. There should be 54 loops here, as in row 9. In this way, knit 16 more rows, from 10 to 26. Knit a connecting post, closing the rows.
Now the hat is ready, it remains to consolidate the work. To do this, cut the working thread, leaving a tail 5-6 cm. Pull the tail through the loop of the connecting post and tighten the knot tightly. Hide the protruding ponytail in the loops of the hat.
