Creative people love to embody their fantasies, creating beautiful and original things. If you are one of such people, then clay modeling is for you. This activity is quite pleasant, and, moreover, it practically does not require either monetary or physical costs. It is impossible to tell about all the intricacies of making clay products, but the basic recommendations can be followed.
It is necessary
- - clay;
- - water;
- - slip;
- - stacks;
- - Potter's wheel;
- - bake;
- - paints for ceramics;
- - glaze;
- - brushes.
Instructions
Step 1
Use special tools for modeling clay - stacks, the main function of which is to remove unnecessary material, smooth and attach parts of the figure, small details. To create symmetrical rounded shapes, such as vases or pots, buy or make your own potter's wheel, with it you can create real works of art.
Step 2
In the course of work, inspect the figure from all sides to assess the correct ratio of all parts. At first, try to sculpt from life or from a drawing in order to be able to see and compare the proportionality of the product.
Step 3
Start with the largest, most basic details. For example, if you are making an animal, first blind the body, then the head, and then attach the small details.
Step 4
Make any connections like this: first, make notches on each attached part in the form of a mesh, then coat them with slip. Lubricate the clay downwards from the top part. In some cases, make separate flagella, apply them to the junction, smoothing up and down. Try to make the seam strong and invisible. This will protect the product from chips and cracks.
Step 5
When finishing work, treat the figurine with a damp sponge.
Step 6
Dry the product. Do this in two steps. First dry the figurine at room temperature for 10 days. Cover it with plastic, leaving some space for air to enter. After the appearance of a hard crust, remove the polyethylene. Make sure there are no drafts in the room. The second stage is figurine firing. Do this in an oven between 750 and 1200 ° C.
Step 7
In the course of work, decorate the product with prints and various elements. After it dries and goes through the firing stage, paint it with ceramic paints and glaze.
Step 8
If you do not have the opportunity to complete work on a clay product right away, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic. When you can continue after a while, the clay will remain soggy.
