The drum is one of the oldest musical instruments. Even peoples who do not have a developed musical culture have instruments similar to it. The drums can be of different heights and areas. Typically, they are made in the form of a cylinder or truncated cone, so drawing this tool is not particularly different from drawing a glass or any other cylindrical object. But you need to pay a lot of attention to detail in order for this to turn out to be a drum.

It is necessary

  • -paper;
  • -simple pencil;
  • - colored pencils or watercolors;
  • - a drum or a picture with its image.

Instructions

Step 1

If you have a real or toy drum, place it on a raised platform in front of you. The drum should be at about eye level. Imagine its projection on a horizontal plane and try to determine the direction of the main lines.

Step 2

Select the position of the sheet depending on the shape and size of the drum. If the height of the tool is greater than the width, lay the sheet vertically. For a wide, low drum, choose a horizontal position.

Step 3

By eye, divide the underside of the sheet in half and make a dot. Step back up a few centimeters from it and draw a vertical centerline with a hard pencil. It should be approximately equal to the height of the drum. Through the same point, draw a line parallel to the bottom edge of the sheet. Along this line from the centerline, set aside segments equal to half the width of the drum.

Step 4

Draw two lines up from the ends of the resulting segments. They must end at the same level as the vertical centerline. Connect the ends of the lines together. You now have a drum skeleton.

Step 5

From the point of intersection of the lower and vertical centerlines, set aside a few centimeters down. This will be the radius of curvature of the lower base of the drum. Connect this point with the ends of the lower centerline with smooth lines to make a semi-oval. Its curvature is the more, the lower the drum is in relation to your eyes. Draw the same semi-oval on the upper centerline. Along the vertical axis from the point of its intersection with the upper axial, set aside the same curvature of the oval. Draw another semi-oval from the ends of the upper centerline.

Step 6

Consider a drum design. There may be a metal rim at the top and bottom. Draw the lower rim with a line parallel to the lower half-oval, but located slightly higher. Draw the top rim in the same way. Please note that it is only visible from the side that the drum is facing towards you.

Step 7

Draw vertical knitting needles. They do not have to be arranged strictly symmetrically. The main thing is that the drum should be divided into equal parts by these axes. Draw one knitting needle a few centimeters from the sideline of the drum. Draw two parallel lines very close to each other. These lines protrude slightly above the upper and lower semi-ovals and end in small circles. Draw the second such axis, departing from the central axis by the same distance. From the back, only the tops of the needles are visible. They are located symmetrically in relation to the spokes on the visible side and to the vertical axis.

Step 8

Color in the drum. Paint the side surface in some bright color - red, green or blue. If you are coloring with pencils, put the strokes parallel to the side lines. First shade in the center, pressing lightly on the pencil. As you move away from the vertical centerline, make strokes with more pressure and denser. Shade the upper surface of the drum in a circular motion and evenly.

Step 9

Trace the drum with a softer pencil (you can use the one with which you painted its side surface). Trace around the needles and edges of the metal bands.

Step 10

Draw sticks. They can be drawn lying under the drum. Draw 3 lines parallel to the bottom edge of the sheet. The distance from the lowest to the middle line will be slightly more than the distance from the middle to the top. On one side, connect all the ends of the lines with a short straight. On the other side, draw circles between the bottom and middle and between the middle and top lines. Color the sticks yellow and trace around them with a softer pencil.
