Do you want to learn how to play drums but don't have the money to buy a drum kit? There is a way to build your own drums from empty plastic buckets and paint cans. The choice of the material at hand is based on the basic principles of working with sound.
It is necessary
Plastic buckets, metal paint cans, ice cream trays, glasses, pot lids, drum sticks
Instructions
Step 1
Before you start running around your neighborhood looking for empty cans and buckets, it's worth learning a few basic sound rules. Hollow containers, such as large plastic buckets or metal cans, sound different depending on their size. According to the laws of physics, large containers with more space for the sound to vibrate will have a lower pitch, while smaller containers will sound higher.
Step 2
Based on this principle, start creating your installation. Start with a kick drum (kick drum). The best choice would be a fifteen-liter industrial-type bucket, such as those used in construction. The sound of this capacity will be the deepest and lowest.
Step 3
The best solution for creating the main drum is an inverted 3 liter metal can. To create a special percussive effect, you can pour a couple of nails or coins into it.
Step 4
Use two inverted 3L plastic ice cream trays to create the volumes. Experiment with edge and center hits to produce sounds of different heights.
Step 5
Use glasses of different sizes to create plates. Glasses will sound different depending on the size and material. If you're worried about breaking your glasses, try using metal pot lids.
Step 6
Once you've collected all your buckets, place them on a flat surface with the holes facing down so that the sound doesn't travel outward but vibrates inside the drums. Place a chair, sit on it with the bass drum between your knees. Place the rest of the drums on the table just above your knees. All that remains is to find a pair of drumsticks and start playing.
