Step 1
Download and install Photoshop CS5. The program is free and you do not need to register. Open the picture you have selected through: "File" - "Open". Select it and click the "Open" button again. Pay attention to the layers palette, it is highlighted in red. If you do not see it, then press the F7 key on the keyboard. Go to the top layer by clicking on its picture once with the left mouse button. Next, click at the bottom of the palette on the small button "Create a new layer".

After that, you will see that a new empty layer has appeared. Here you will write the necessary text on it. To do this, you need the Text tool. Turn it on by clicking the "T" button on the tool palette. If your palette is not shown on the sidebar, then in the main top menu select "Window" - "Tools".
Step 3
After clicking on the "T" button, left-click on the picture in the place where you would like to write your text. A square with a blinking cursor should appear. Write your congratulations or whatever text you need. Using the settings of the "Type" tool, you can change its appearance and font until you choose the best one for you.
Step 4
Now save your picture with the caption like this: "File" - "Save for WEB and Devices". A save window will open. Here you only need the file format, for animated images it is only GIF. Also, for the best quality, set the maximum number of colors. If the animation image contains transparent areas, then check the box next to the "Transparency" box. You can change the size of the picture at the bottom of the window, here you can also see and check how it will look. Finally, click on the "Save" button.
