Socks and mittens can be knitted in two ways: seamless, in a circle on 5 knitting needles, with a seam using 2 knitting needles. Mittens can be knitted with front stitch, jacquard pattern, braids, plaits, etc.

Set of five knitting needles, threads for knitting

Instructions

Step 1

Socks.

Measure the volume of the leg at the ankle (eg 23 cm). Determine the knitting density by tying a 10 cm x 10 cm pattern (for example, 1 cm 3 loops). Round up to an even number. 72 stitches in total.

Step 2

Cast on 2 knitting needles folded together. Then knit an elastic band (1 front, 1 purl), distribute all loops on 4 knitting needles (18 each). Knit 5 cm with elastic. Go to stocking (front rows - front loops, purl rows - purl loops), knit another 5 cm.

Step 3

Start shaping your heel. Divide the knitting into 2 equal parts. Next, knit on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles (the loops of the 1st and 2nd knitting needles do not participate in the formation of the heel), uniting the loops on one knitting needle. Determine the height of the heel as follows: the number of hem loops should be equal to the number of loops on one spoke (18).

Step 4

Next, divide the loops of the canvas into three equal parts. Start decreasing like this:

1st row (wrong side of the canvas): purl loops - knit the first 12 loops, then all the loops of the middle part, except for the last loop, knit it with the purl along with the adjacent loop of the 2nd side part (11 loops of the 2nd side part remained untied). Turn knitting.

2nd row (front side of the fabric): front loops - remove the edge loop and pull it tight to the knitting needle. Next, knit all the loops of the middle part, except for the last one, knit it together with the adjacent loop of the 1st side part of the front. Knit sock twist.

Step 5

Repeat the 1st and 2nd rows until you have knit all the stitches of the side pieces together with the outermost stitches of the middle section. On the needles, only the loops of the middle part (12 loops) remained.

Step 6

Next, knit the sock until decreasing at the toe with the front loops in a circle. Start the work in this way: with the knitting needle on which the loops of the middle part are located, cast on new loops on the front side of the toe from the hem heels - from each hem, one front, 18 loops in total. Then, knit 18 sts on 1st needle, 18 stitches on 2nd. Cast on new loops from the edge of the canvas (18 p.). Work half of the middle stitches (6 sts).

Step 7

Next, decrease the stitches in each row by knitting 2 stitches together, purl at the end of each knitting needle, until there are four stitches left. Break the thread, sew its loops, hide it on the wrong side of the sock.

Step 8

Mittens.

Calculate the required number of loops, measure the circumference of the brush, multiply by the number of loops in 1 cm. Type the loops and distribute them on 4 knitting needles.

Step 9

Knit with an elastic band 8 cm, then with the front stitch, 7 cm. For the hole of the thumb, knit 10 loops (3.5 cm) with a thread of a different color. After another 7 cm, to decrease the loops of the mittens 6 times in every second circular row and 4 times in every second circular row, knit the first 2 loops together on the 1st and 3rd needles, picking up the loops from right to left, and on the 2nd and 4th knitting needles last 2 loops together, picking them up from left to right. Pull the last 8 stitches together. For the thumb, untwist a different color and move the stitches to the knitting needles. Tie the thumb of the mittens, in the last circular row, knit all the loops 2 together with the front one, pull on the thread.
