Of course, you can always buy a ready-made T-shirt with a funny pattern or lettering in the store. But it is much more interesting to paint it with your own hands. Moreover, the technology of applying monochromatic patterns to fabric is not so complicated.

It is necessary

  • - Plain T-shirt;
  • - water-based textile paint;
  • - thin plastic for stencil;
  • - marker;
  • - stencil brush;
  • - iron;
  • - cutting board.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a stencil for drawing on the shirt. To do this, use a marker to draw the contours of the pattern on the plastic. For a stencil, thin plastic is quite suitable, which goes on the covers when stitching. Cut out the stencil using a sharp-edged knife and scissors.

Step 2

Wash, dry and iron the shirt. For work, you need a flat surface of the fabric without folds and dust.

Step 3

Spread the shirt on a flat, hard surface with the working side up. If you have a clean wooden cutting board that is slightly larger than your design, slide the shirt over it so that the board is between the front and back of the shirt.

Place the stencil on the shirt and pin it together with the shirt to the board with buttons. All this is necessary so that in the process of work the stencil does not move due to an awkward movement. Stick the buttons as close as possible to the outline of the pattern, the stencil should be tightly pressed against the fabric.

Step 4

Dip a stencil brush in the paint and paint over the design through the stencil. Be careful not to smudge the paint on the part of the shirt that you are not going to print on. Wait for the paint to dry completely. This can take eight to twelve hours.

Step 5

Peel off the buttons and remove the stencil. Fix the pattern with an iron. To do this, take a piece of any cotton fabric and iron the dyed part of the shirt through it in the dry ironing mode. Heat the drawing for five minutes. The painted T-shirt is ready.
