Biography

The future movie star was born on July 30, 1947 at a difficult time for the country. His family lived in the small town of Orange, Connecticut (United States of America). He received his secondary education at a local college, after which he was enrolled as a student at the Carnegie University of Technology. But during his studies he got carried away with theatrical performances in a private theater studio. This was followed by auditions in small television shows, cameo roles in various films. The farm boy took over the city life by moving to Los Angeles.

Career

The first steps to a successful career began on the set, he successfully coped with the tasks set, surprised the directors. After graduating from the university (1969) in the direction of "dramatic art", the young man decided to make his debut in big cinema. With the release of The New Centurions (1972), Atherton got a chance to develop further. Once he was noticed by Spielberg and decided to try the lead role of the fugitive Clovis Michael Poplin in the movie "The Sugarland Express" (1974). After the release of the film, William woke up a famous person. They began to invite him to secondary, but vivid roles, critics noted the impeccable play, the ability to transform, get used to the role.

A great contribution to his creative career was made, the actor had only to go forward, gaining momentum, without losing hope for the best, new in life. He graduated from acting courses, starred in several films. Memorable to the viewer were: "Locust Day" (1975), "Independence" (1976), "The only light" (1981).

This was followed by an equally significant role - the obstinate agent Walter Pack, in the comedy film "Ghostbusters". The continuation was not long in coming, the producer launched the series, which turned out to be the highest grossing in the world of the film industry of those years.

The most striking image, which was ambiguously perceived by the audience, was the reporter Ridard Thornburg in the action films "Die Hard" and "Die Hard 2". In the films, he played with the famous Bruce Willis and a number of other equally popular actors, his rating jumped at times. Blockbuster was nominated for an Oscar several times, but all attempts were unsuccessful. Only a few years later, when the series was released in Russia, was it appreciated properly, he waited for the award.

The nineties were marked for the artist by new heroes, television programs, his work was in demand.
