Not in every game you can find the function of a screenshot, even poking around in the settings for a long time. However, there is a universal way to take screenshots, which does not depend on the presence of this function in the game itself. This method is using the Fraps program.

Instructions

Step 1

Install Fraps (version 2.9.3 for example). Before starting the game in which you want to take a "screenshot", make sure that you have started this program. But if you don't want to click on the launch window every time, you can go to the General tab and check the box next to Run Fraps when Windows starts. The program will now run whenever you turn on your computer. Start Fraps minimized - after starting the program will appear in the tray. Fraps window always on top - the Fraps window will always hang on top of other windows.

Step 2

Skip the FPS and Movies tabs. You will hardly need them - they are intended for setting up video recording. Go directly to Screenshots and click on Change to specify the section in which future "screenshots" will be saved. The selected path will be displayed in the Folder to save screenshots in field. If you click on the View button, you can automatically move to this section.

Step 3

Decide on the button that will be responsible for the screenshot and specify it in the Screen Capture Hotkey field. Keep in mind that if this button coincides with a certain action in the game, for example, with the W key in some F. E. A. R. 3 or Half-Life, then every time you move forward, Fraps will take a screenshot. This is useful if you want to capture a specific action, but it can put a heavy load on the system. On the right, select the image type: BMP, JPG, PNG, or TGA.

Step 4

Below are two more interesting settings. Include frame rate overlay on screenshoots - the corner of the screenshot will show the number of frames per second in the game at the time of the screenshot. Which of the four corners of the image can be adjusted on the FPS tab in the black Overlay Corner square. Repeat screen capture every… seconds - snapshots will be created randomly with an interval of the specified number of seconds.
