This DIY Easter egg made of paper and painted with bright colors is an original craft that can be used as a gift souvenir or as an element of festive decoration at home.
Egg from paper templates
An unusual, colorful Easter egg can be made using templates cut from double-sided colored paper. The paper can be either patterned or plain. The template of the future egg made of cardboard is outlined on sheets of colored paper and the resulting blanks are cut out. The volume and texture of the finished craft depends on the number of blanks.
All blanks are folded into an even pile and stapled exactly in the center with a stapler. After that, the sides of the templates are carefully straightened and the resulting egg is decorated with decorative elements.
On the basis of such blanks, you can also make a "corrugated" paper egg: each cut out piece of colored or white paper is folded in half along a vertical line, a small drop of glue is applied on the inside of the template in the center of the top, bottom and middle, and the part is folded in half again.
On the outside of the part, glue is applied at the same points and the next workpiece is applied. The finished product should look like halves of eggs neatly stacked in a stack. After that, the egg is opened and the resulting cavities are gently straightened. The finished egg is placed on a stand and, if desired, decorated with beads, small beads, ribbons, bows, or painted with paints if the blanks were made of white paper.
Papier mache egg
It is easiest to use the most ordinary balloon as a form for the future egg. The balloon is inflated a little, tied up and placed on a convenient stand for needlework or hung on a string.
Corrugated paper of the desired colors or bright napkins are cut into small squares and each of them is dipped in a previously prepared adhesive solution. As a solution, PVA glue, slightly diluted with water, or a paste made from starch can serve.
If the paper is very thin and tears when it gets wet, you can use a brush to apply the adhesive directly to the balloon and first glue the base layer of white paper, carefully smoothing out the wrinkles. After the first layer dries slightly, colored paper squares are glued on top of it, combining them in random order.
The craft is left to dry completely, after which the balloon is blown off and carefully removed from the paper egg. In the finished product, you can cut a small hole through which the egg is filled with sweets or other light-weight delicacies, after which the hole is sealed again.
As another design option, the hole can be cut in the form of a small window, the edges of which are decorated along the contour with small beads or paper flowers, and a souvenir chicken or a figurine of an Easter bunny is placed inside the egg.
