Matryoshka painting can be divided into two types. This is a traditional painting according to the canons and an author's painting, in which everything depends on the artist's imagination.

It is necessary

  • - blank nesting dolls
  • - paints, pencil, brushes and primer
  • - varnish

Instructions

Step 1

If the wooden blanks are not very smooth, you can go over them with fine sandpaper before work, and then wipe with a soft damp cloth from wood dust. First of all, the workpiece is covered with soil. It is best to use an acrylic ready-made primer, but you can also independently mix water, PVA glue and white acrylic in equal proportions, and cover the workpiece with this mixture. If the primer is not used, then after varnishing the matryoshka will darken greatly and change the color scheme.

Step 2

To make the matryoshka symmetrical, mark it in two equal halves with a simple pencil on the dried soil. A sketch of the face and accessories is drawn. For a more reliable image, it is important to correctly place the face on the matryoshka, its chin should be above the narrowing of the workpiece, which indicates the neck. For painting, it is best to use acrylic or oil paints, you can use watercolors or gouache. Acrylic has the ability to dry very quickly, preventing possible blemishes to be corrected, and the oil will dry for a long time. Watercolors and gouache are afraid of moisture, and even when varnished they can leak or blur. The best option is still acrylic, since when it is diluted with PVA glue, the drying speed decreases.

Step 3

You will need at least 2 brushes for painting, and best of all 3 - one large for applying paint over a large space, the second thin for working out the details and the third very thin, but it can be replaced with a needle or a toothpick. She writes out details such as eyes and eyelashes, and possibly some accessories. They begin to paint with a scarf, in the classic version it is gold or red, and in the author's painting it can be of any color or may be absent altogether. After the scarf, the sleeves and sundress are painted, when all this dries up, you can start working on small details.

Step 4

The most crucial moment is the painting of the face, hair and eyes. First, the main contours are drawn with light colors, and then small details are worked out with small strokes. You can use metallic paints for more shine, or undiluted black for a crisp outline. White paint, undiluted, is the last to add glare to the eyes. For further decoration of the costume, you can use dot painting, it gives the handmade figurines a special charm. It is better to use parquet or yacht varnish for the final coating - this will ensure durability of the products. When varnishing, usually do not use brushes or rollers. A long thin needle is stuck into the bottom of the nesting doll, and, holding by its tip, the nesting doll is dipped into the varnish completely. Then they are suspended by the same needle to dry, repeating the operation several times if necessary.
