Summer days sometimes bring not sun and warmth, but rain and slush. If the bad weather caught you by surprise, a raincoat will come in handy. However, the appearance and quality may not always please the buyer, so the option of self-tailoring of such a necessary product is ideal.
It is necessary
A sewing machine, scissors, pins, a centimeter, a body shirt with a hood, a jacket with a long sleeve, oilcloth in two colors
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to fold a sheet of oilcloth in half, attach a sweater with a long sleeve to it and cut the edges in a semicircle. The jacket is taken in order not to take measurements, but to immediately start cutting out the details. From each semicircular edge to the end of the sleeve, there should be approximately 10 centimeters, and from the end of the oilcloth to the bottom of the jacket, the distance should be more than 20 centimeters. The latter depends on the desired length of the raincoat.
Step 2
Then, in the place where the neck of the jacket is, a hole is cut out. Exactly along the sleeve, holes are made for the arms: the sleeve is applied to the edge of the oilcloth and where the shoulder of the jacket turned out to be, you need to cut off the holes a little larger than for the neck. Then, from the middle of the neck, the oilcloth is cut to the edge on one side.
Step 3
For the sleeves, you will need a rectangular piece of oilcloth. We apply the sleeve from the jacket and cut it out larger than the sleeve of the jacket. After that, its inner sides are sewn. The sleeve and the holes are pinned together and sewn together.
Step 4
Similarly, the upper part of the raincoat is cut out of a more beautiful oilcloth. The hood is cut out according to the body shirt. The workpiece is made higher than 15 centimeters and 10 centimeters wider than the hood of the body shirt. The resulting blank is sewn to the neck of the outer part of the raincoat.
Step 5
In the same way, the inside of the hood is cut out and sewn to the neckline. Both parts of the raincoat are connected and sewn along the bottom edge, along the edges of the sleeves and along the edge of the hood wrap. A loop is made in the upper part and a beautiful button or fastener is sewn. The raincoat is ready!
