The traditional Ameropa Chamber Music Festival will take place in the Czech capital Prague from July 19 to August 6, 2012. The program of the event includes the performance of classical music of the 16-17th century. Famous bands Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin (Germany) and Forma Antikva (Spain) will perform among the participants.

The idea of organizing Ameropa belongs to Professor Vadim Mazo, who, with the help of his friends, held the first festival in 1993 at the Jan Neruda Gymnasium and at the Academy of Performing Arts. The participants in this event were from the USA and the Czech Republic.

Since 2001, Ameropa in Prague has been held annually. Over the past thirteen years, more than nine hundred bands from fifteen countries have taken part in it: from the USA, Czech Republic, France, Israel, Germany, Taiwan, China, Holland, Japan, etc.

The main purpose of the event is to gain knowledge about cultural traditions, develop these traditions, establish contacts between professional musicians and music lovers.

The 2012 Ameropa Festival will take place in the old halls of Prague Castle, New Town Hall, Troy Castle, St. Agnes Monastery. Topics of the event: "The music of the composers of the Second Vienna School and its influence in the 20th and 21st centuries in Europe, Prague and Terezin".

The repertoire of the festival includes chamber music performances by students and professional ensembles. Participants will perform Spanish Baroque, compositions of medieval troubadours, masterpieces of French art. You can listen to baroque dance music from southern Europe, Portuguese fado and English baroque operas.

One week of the event is dedicated to individual lessons for the musicians participating in the festival. The rehearsals will be supervised by highly professional teachers.

The International Music Festival Ameropa will allow participants to make new acquaintances, improve their musical education, start a professional career, and amateurs - to enjoy chamber music. On the days of the event, you can also go on a tour of this amazingly beautiful Czech city to admire the ancient architecture and visit the museums of Prague.
