For 14 years in a row, the Russian city of Vyborg has been hosting valiant knights, admirers of the Middle Ages, or simply those who simply want to spend a few summer days in a fun way. At this time, there is an interesting and spectacular International Festival "Knight's Castle".
In 2012, this holiday, taking place on the territory of Castle Island, will once again delight guests with world-famous theatrical performances of medieval battles. Knights from various cities of Russia and other countries will gather there to show their agility and skill in exciting battles. And the guests of the festival will be able to feel the spirit of the real Middle Ages, as well as get a lot of vivid impressions from what they saw.
From 27 to 29 July, equestrian and foot knight tournaments, archer fights, tournaments between squires and training of the castle guard will be held. The knights will show all their skill and dexterity in various competitions - from the defeat of the "Saracen" and dodging the enemy's blow to lifting the scarf of a beautiful lady at full gallop from the ground. Also, the festival program will include spectacular assaults of the castle and colorful battles of foot soldiers, during which participants will show all their valor in battles for the honor of the king.
Guests of the "Knight's Castle" festival will be able to try on medieval armor of warriors, hold real weapons of ancient times in their hands, practice archery and ride horses. And artisans and blacksmiths will show their skills in the manufacture of pottery and knightly armor. In the evening, an interesting musical and theatrical program awaits everyone, consisting of a trial of a knight, a fire show, a concert of minstrels, medieval music, dances and fun games.
On the night from Saturday to Sunday, the commanders' feast will begin, where everyone can taste delicious medieval cuisine that will impress even the most discerning gourmet, and enjoy various drinks from real cups. The festive events will end with a magnificent ball.
