Pencil drawing is a special area of drawing that includes many techniques. There are a wide variety of pencils. The technique that is possible during the execution of the drawing depends on the type of pencil chosen.
When forming the idea of a future drawing, you need to at least roughly understand what you want to get as a result (whether it will be a black and white painting, or the author conceived a masterpiece that rages with all the colors of the rainbow). Based on this knowledge, you can pick up a tool, that is, a pencil.
Simple pencils
Simple slate pencils, despite the apparent lack of color options, allow imagination to roam. Because these designs range from white to black, including a wide range of shades of gray.
To simplify his life, it is best for an artist to have a large selection of simple pencils in his arsenal. Very hard (8H - for fine light lines or strokes) to very soft (16B - for thick, dense black lines). If there is such a variety in the pencil case, you will not need to spend additional time, for example, to darken the area with an insufficiently soft pencil. And vice versa.
Colour pencils
Use colored pencils to create a colorful, vibrant drawing. And using the technique of mixing colors, with the help of a relatively small set, you can create a wide range of shades.
In addition, watercolor crayons are becoming more common among artists. They incorporate the features of crayons and watercolors. Using water in painting, they can achieve beautiful transparent effects.
Choosing pencils in the store
When visiting an art or stationery store, an untrained shopper is likely to be confused by the sheer choice that manufacturers have to offer today. One thing is for sure: in this segment of goods the proven pattern “price meets quality” works. And yes, you can be sure that buying the most expensive pencils (unless, of course, this is an assortment of a stall at a bus stop), you are acquiring the best creative tool. Another question is that not the most expensive ones will not always be bad. The easiest way to find “yours” (suitable for a particular artist) is by trying these or those brands. Piece pencils are relatively inexpensive, and by choosing a clear favorite, you can already spend money on a whole package.
When it comes to colored pencils, they are rarely sold by the piece. Here, when choosing, it is better to rely on the reviews of sellers (since people who are not far from art work in specialized stores, and who probably held a pencil in their hands and not even one), teachers and fellow artists.
You should not dwell on a kind bought once by accident or a pencil manufacturer. After all, materials for creativity, their quality are of great importance for obtaining the best result.
