A jacket is a very comfortable and practical thing for both cold weather in the off-season and frosty winter days. And the hood will protect you from bad weather and wind.

How to sew a hooded jacket

It is necessary

  • - jacket or raincoat fabric;
  • - synthetic winterizer;
  • - lining fabric;
  • - detachable zipper;
  • - lace;
  • - 2 clips;
  • - wide elastic band;
  • - sewing accessories.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a paper pattern for your hooded jacket. Cut out the details of the back, shelves, hood and sleeves from the main material, padding polyester and lining fabric.

Step 2

Fold the details of jacket or raincoat fabric and padding polyester. Sew along all cuts and in the middle of the elements with bias basting stitches. Sew all parts on the sewing machine using the largest stitch width. This can be done by running a few vertical and horizontal stripes or by quilting in squares. Cut off the edges, while cutting the sintepon at an angle so that the seams in the finished product do not turn out to be thick.

Step 3

On the shelves, trim the entrances to the pocket with piping and sew in burlap. Fold the back and shelf details right sides together and sew shoulder and side seams.

Step 4

Sew the sides of the sleeves and sew them into the armholes. Turn the blank for the hooded jacket right out. In the same way, stitch the back and shelves from the lining and sew on the sleeves. Insert the lining into the jacket.

Step 5

Sew in the split zipper so that the teeth are visible. Sew the lining over the zipper.

Step 6

Fold the lower part of the sleeves and the bottom of the jacket 4-5 cm on the lining, fold the upper cut inward by 1 cm and sew on a sewing machine. Insert a wide elastic band into the resulting drawstrings.

Step 7

Stitch the middle seam of the hood from the quilted fabric along with padding polyester and lining. Bend the cut of the part of the hood that is directed towards the face to the side of the lining and stitch the drawstring.

Step 8

Attach the hood to the neckline, aligning the cuts and pin the part with pins. Stitch with a sewing machine. Fold the lining along the neckline to the wrong side and sew with blind stitches close to the seam.

Step 9

Insert the drawstring into the drawstring on the hood. This can be done using an ordinary pin. Put the fixers on the edges and tighten the hood.

Step 10

It remains to sew the smallest, but very important detail - the loop for the hanger. Cut a strip from the base material 2 cm wide and 6-8 mi long. Fold it in several layers along the wide part and sew a stitch in the middle of the part.

Step 11

Center the piece in the center of the back of the jacket. Sew the hanger into the stitching seam of the hood.
