Not a single book written in the genre of fantasy and not a single fantasy film is complete without the participation of dragons. They have long been considered symbols of the fantastic world and have invariably figured in ancient legends. You can easily learn how to draw a dragon's head from different angles to create a fantasy atmosphere in your drawings or decorate a friendly postcard in an original way.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to draw the dragon's head in profile, first draw a few auxiliary guide lines on the paper.

Step 2

Draw the elongated outlines of the dragon's head, tapering towards the jaw, in the extended part of the head draw a round outline of the cheek, and just in front of the cheek on the upper outline of the head draw a narrow horizontal oval of the browbone.

Step 3

From the flared part of the head, draw a curved S-shaped line to outline the neck. Also mark the location of the eye with a dot.

Step 4

Make the shape of the drawing clearer - outline the jaw and slightly open the dragon's mouth, draw a voluminous nostril, detail the outlines of the eye. Mark the main curve of the brow arches along the construction lines and begin to detail the outlines of the neck.

Step 5

Draw the pupil inside the eye, and then make the dragon's head larger and more realistic - draw folds of skin, mark the places where the dragon's teeth protrude, work out the areas of light and shadow. Shade the curves of the neck, add scales or membranes, and draw small horns on the head. Draw large scales on the inside of the neck, and small ones on the outside. Smooth out the joints between the neck and head.

Step 6

You can also try drawing the dragon's head not in profile, but rotated three-quarters. The shape and construction of the head remains the same as before, but now the viewing angle changes. Draw a curved neck, and from the top edge of the neck draw the outline of the head, which is rotated to the right diagonal.

Step 7

Draw the cheek and brow ridges. As described above, detail the dragon, paint light and shadow, make it more vivid and characteristic, add details.
