Mikhail Mikhailovich Poplavsky was born into a simple family of peasants who lived in the Kirovograd region. In the village of Mechislavka, he spent his entire childhood.
Education and work
In 1968, Mikhail Poplavsky graduated from vocational school in Gorlovka. From 1975 to 1979 he was a student and chairman of the trade union committee of the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts. After university, he studied at the graduate school of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR. In 1990, Mikhail Poplavsky successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Academy of Sciences of Leningrad. Finally, in 1993, he became the rector of the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts.
As for work, Mikhail Poplavsky began to work at school. At first, he helped a combine operator on a collective farm, then he worked as a bricklayer on the construction of roads in the village. After graduating from vocational school, Mikhail Poplavsky managed to work as an electric locomotive driver before he was called up for military service. Mikhail Poplavsky served in a motorized rifle company in the Belarusian Military District. During his service he was awarded the medal "For Military Valor".
