Antique statues have always been considered an ideal object for aspiring artists: such a statue allows you to practice depicting the human body. Such a figure will teach you how to correctly distribute chiaroscuro.

Instructions
Step 1
Let's outline the shape. Take a sanguine pastel and lightly outline the outlines of the figure. After that, let's start creating a tonal pattern, the main one in which is the distribution of light and shade.
Step 2
Distribute the tones. Press harder on the pastel stick, showing deep shadows on the face, shoulder and under the chest. Add a deep tone to the thigh - where the shadow of the right hand lies. Let's mark the spots of the intermediate tone, slightly decreasing the pressure.
Step 3
Let's add some linear details. We shade the face of the statue, and then define the upper part of the torso, sketching out the shadows that lie here. Let's go back to the sanguine pastels and outline the hairline on the head, the left arm and the leg of the statue. We outline the fabric on the leg and the stump. We will apply an intermediate tone to the upper part of the left forearm, and in a dark tone we will show the texture of the stump and the shadow lying between the legs of the statue.
Step 4
Draw the legs of the statue. Let's deepen the tone around the fabric in the statue's hand. In a deep tone, we will show the shadow cast by the left knee. Use the shading to blend the shading on the right thigh of the statue, and then use the remaining pigment on the shading to create an intermediate tone on the knee and shin of the right leg.
Step 5
Let's outline the facial features. In order to create intermediate tones on the hair and face, rub the pigment in these areas with shading (while leaving the nose light). Sharpen a stick of sanguine pastels and paint the eyebrows, lips and nostrils.
Step 6
We make the texture. Detail the curls on the head of the statue. Deepen the dark tones on the legs. Blend the intermediate tone onto the left thigh. Use a pastel stick to mark the fingers of the statue. Show the folds of the fabric and the top of the plinth. Use tonal shading to emphasize the texture of the fabric, pedestal and stump, then go over these areas with shading.
Step 7
Create a light tone. Use white pastels to paint highlights on the statue's shoulder, chest, arms and thigh. Add some white pigment to the face and temple.
