Instructions

Step 1

Start drawing a parrot by constructing two ovals, which in the course of work transform into its body and head. Place the first, larger oval vertically, if you wish, you can give it a slight slope. Draw the second oval above the first, it should be about three to four times smaller than it and be horizontal.

Step 2

Connect the ovals with construction lines. Smooth out the transition from the side that will be the back of the bird.

Step 3

Select the front of the horizontal oval. In its lower part, depict a powerful beak bent down. The upper part looks like a horn from which they drink; it hangs over the lower part, similar to the gripping claw of a crab. Draw the nostrils above the beak; they are bare in all species of parrots. Place the eye over the beak, note that the distance from the crown to the center of the eye of this bird is small.

Step 4

Mentally divide the vertical oval in half, from this point start drawing the legs of the bird. They are quite powerful and long, located on both sides of the body. The plumage on the legs of the parrot ends at about the level of the beginning of the growth of the tail feathers. Next, you need to draw fingers covered with keratinized skin. Keep in mind that two of the parrot's toes are pointing backward and two are pointing forward. Draw curved claws at the ends of the fingers.

Step 5

Start drawing the wings around where the top of the vertical oval ends. Their span is quite large, each wing ends with wide flight feathers.

Step 6

Draw the tail. It consists of 12 large feathers, in a calm state they are all located in the same direction.

Step 7

Erase the guide lines and start coloring. Despite the variety of colors, there are several principles for applying paint. First, the color of the feathers on the back and crown of most parrots is the same and has a darker shade than the feathers on the belly. Secondly, the belly and feathers on the inside of the bird's wings are also often the same. Thirdly, the area between the beak and the eye is covered with peculiar waves of dark and light feathers.
