In order to draw a budgerigar, you need to know the structural features of the skeleton of this bird and take into account the plumage properties characteristic of this species when painting.

Instructions

Step 1

Start drawing a budgie with a pencil sketch. First, draw two ovals, which will then become the head of the bird and its body. Keep in mind that the large oval should be three times larger than the small one. If your parrot has stretched its neck, draw auxiliary elements at some distance from each other.

Step 2

Connect the ovals with smooth lines. From the side of the back, the line should be concave, and from the front, the contour should indicate a small goiter of the bird. Unlike many other species of parrots, such as the macaw, budgerigars do not have a distinct neck.

Step 3

Divide the bird's head with a horizontal line. At the intersection of this line with the front of the oval, draw a small beak. In budgies, its lower part is hidden under the plumage, so you do not need to draw it. Draw a wax beak above the beak - this is a small seal devoid of feathers. Draw small nostrils on it. Draw the eye in line with the beak. If your parrot is worried about something, depict ruffled feathers in the front of the head and on the forehead.

Step 4

Draw the bird's legs by marking the middle of the large oval. Keep in mind that parrots have four toes, two of them pointing forward, others looking back. Draw claws at the tips. Because budgerigars have soft, fluffy plumage, the feathery portion of their legs is often not visible.

Step 5

Select the two longest tail feathers, the rest of the shorter ones form a fan in a loose state.

Step 6

Draw the wings of the parrot. Draw flight feathers wide enough, they reach approximately to the middle of the tail. Draw thin stripes in the middle of the wings.

Step 7

Color in the drawing. Since budgerigars come in a variety of colors, you can use blue, yellow or green shades. Pay attention to the fact that in females the wax is always light or pale brown, and in males it is colored bright blue. Also, highlight in blue some of the feathers under the eye. And do not forget about the variegated color of the feathers on the back and back of the neck.
