Instructions

Step 1

Select a side view from a straight point. First, draw the hull of your sailboat. Draw the front part slightly elongated, with a pointed and slightly raised corner.

Step 2

To correctly position the masts on the sailboat, visually divide the hull into 3 equal parts and mark two points. Draw two lines upward from these points. The line closer to the bow should be slightly higher. Next, you need to draw the yards to which the sails are attached, i.e. horizontal crossbeams. On each mast, draw two horizontal lines equidistant from each other. Please note that your masts are of different lengths and, accordingly, the yards on one mast should not be on the same level with the yards of another mast.

Step 3

To draw a triangular sail from the top of the first mast towards the bow of the sailboat, draw a straight line just above the top of the first mast towards the bow. Step back a little from the bottom of the line, draw a line curved up and out to the front mast to represent a wind-inflated sail. Do not bring the line up to the mast. Draw a line straight down to show where the sail is to be attached to the side of the hull. Draw a slightly curved line upward to complete the sail, not all the way to the top, but slightly short. Using the same principle, draw a triangular sail at the aft stern.

Step 4

Next, draw straight sails, which are rectangular in shape. They are attached with the upper edge to the yards, and the lower edge is attached to the underlying rack. That is, the top of the sail on each yard remains straight. Draw curved, symmetrical lines from the edge of the top yard to the bottom on both masts. Also draw the sails on the lower yards, i.e. from the edge of the lower yard to the sides of the stern. Draw slightly upward curved lines along the bottom of each sail to represent the wind inflating of the sails. On each mast, draw one flag fluttering in the wind. Draw waves along the bottom of the body. Erase the extra lines. The sailboat is ready.
