At the end of the twentieth century, when the stores did not have such a wide range of unusual and interesting toys as today, children invented and made toys on their own. Until now, such homemade toys are very popular among children of different ages. Both independently and with the help of adults, each child can make a sailboat from an empty plastic bottle that can float on the surface of the water.

It is necessary

Plastic bottle, scissors, awl, thread, two nails or screws, A4 paper, sand or small stones

Instructions

Step 1

In addition to a clean plastic bottle with a volume of one and a half to two liters, you will need scissors, an awl, as well as ready-made wooden slats for ship masts with a cross section of 5x5 mm. Also prepare strong threads, two long nails or self-tapping screws, and A4 paper. Separately collect a small amount of sand or small stones for the ballast of the sailboat.

Step 2

Use scissors to cut out the sails, and then use an awl to poke holes in the bottle to insert the masts into them. Line up the holes for the masts. Expand the holes to 5x5 mm diameter rails and insert the masts into the holes.

Step 3

On the side of the bottom of the bottle, which plays the role of the stern, install two long nails at a distance of 3-4 cm from the line of the masts and fasten the rigging threads to them. Make two cuts in the paper sails and slide them over the masts.

Step 4

Then use the threads to install the rigging, giving the boat a beautiful look. Align the masts and thread the sails.

Step 5

A similar sailboat can be used for real water battles and games - fill it with sand or stones for ballast, and then, having chosen a suitable place and good weather with a slight wind directed from the shore, put the boat on the water.

Step 6

If you do not want the sailboat to leave you forever, tie a string to it and start it sailing, unwinding the reel with the string. At any time you can pull the sailboat to you and take it home.
