Instructions

Step 1

There are many ways to make such models, but one of them is simple to manufacture, affordable and beautiful. Thanks to the instructions, you can create a model of a sailboat with your own hands. It will take time and patience, but trust me, the result is worth it. At the first stage of making such a souvenir as a sailboat in a bottle, it is necessary to select a vessel suitable for the future ship. For example, for the construction of such models as clipper, barque, etc. take an elongated vessel of the "damask" type, and for such models as a galleon or a caravel, a wide and "pot-bellied" bottle is more suitable.

Step 2

A model placed in a bottle is made in the same way as other microsailboats, but there are separate requirements and instructions. First you need to start working on the body. But first of all, you need to check if it can penetrate the bottle. Remember that the model must be placed in the vessel along with the spars, which must be neatly folded. You will need to decide whether to do the hull at the waterline only or the whole hull

Step 3

For easy assembly, you must make steps - podmast grooves. With their help, you will quickly collect parts. The groove width should be one and a half millimeters larger than the mast spur diameter. The grooves (steps) are most conveniently done with a cutter, or with a knife with a well-sharpened blade and a sharp end. Depending on the type of wood chosen, this process will be different: soft woods such as linden, alder or aspen are easier to cut. If you chose a piece of foam as a blank for the ship's hull, then you can also give it the desired shape with a knife. After you have made the steps, paint the body in any color you like. After the paint is dry, paint the piece with varnish to give the sailboat a sleeker look.

Step 4

Now you should start making a mast. A spar is a part of a vessel used to attach masts and sails. First, carefully grind the spars, then drill paired holes in the bowsprit. The bowsprit is the front mast of a sailboat. Further, with the help of stays - the so-called ropes that keep the masts from falling backwards - begin to fasten the parts. Attach each staple so that it is attached at one end to the mast, and the other to the holes in the mast, ending at the bowsprit. Temporarily attach the ends of the stays to the bowsprit. You do not need to fasten the details tightly, otherwise you will not be able to "dodge" them in order to push the sailboat into the bottle, and then straighten it.

Step 5

Prepare the vessel by pouring polyester resin into it. Place the model in the bottle by dripping epoxy glue onto the resin surface. Having released the stays, carefully fold the mast into the stern. Wait for the glue to dry, pull on the ends of the stays and secure with glue. Close the vessel with a decorated cork, make a beautiful stand for a souvenir.
