A wide variety of knitted products or their component parts presuppose the presence of elastic bands - cuffs, straps of shelves, neckline or armhole, as well as the edges of the hood. A hollow or double elastic band looks very nice and neat, which is also convenient to use as a drawstring for cords.
It is necessary
- - knitting needles;
- - yarn.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to perform a double elastic, it must be borne in mind that the set of loops must be twice as large as it is assumed according to the calculations of the figure. Before knitting it on the main product, be sure to experiment on a small sample, since knitting this pattern requires some skill.
Step 2
Cast on 20 stitches on the needles, which is 2 times more than necessary for the calculation. However, on the finished product, a pattern of only 10 loops will be visible, moreover, both from the front and from the seamy side. It is very important to knit the first 2 rows correctly, after which it will be much easier to continue working according to the pattern.
Step 3
Knit the first row according to the scheme: * 1 front loop, 1 loop is not knitted, but removed on a knitting needle *. Make sure that the working thread is always in the gap between the front loop and the removed loop. Otherwise, the pattern may be disturbed. Continue the second row in the same way. Now knit the loop that was removed in the previous row with the front one, and remove the previously knitted one on the knitting needle. Work up to 10 rows for a double elastic pattern.
Step 4
To continue working with a double elastic band after the main pattern (it does not matter - you need to insert it in the middle or finish the edge), double the number of loops. To do this, add the missing loops additionally. This can be done in two ways - by pulling a new one through each knitted loop, or using yarns.
Step 5
Continue working in the above way. After knitting a hollow elastic of a given width, knit the penultimate row with front loops 2 together, which will reduce their number. Close the stitches of the last row. If the double elastic is in the waist area, then there is no need to close the loops. After you knit the final row of 2 loops together and bring the pattern to the original number of loops, continue to work according to the given pattern.
