Knitting the neckline is one of the most difficult stages of making shoulder products with knitting needles or crocheting. It is the correctly designed neck that will give the sweater or pullover completeness.

Step 1
Choosing the right sweater model, you will have to make a life-size pattern of the garment, especially if the garment has asymmetrical details, intricate necklines or cuffs.
Step 2
You need to knit the product, fully relying on the diagram. It will be better if you read all the recommendations for the desired model in advance, find possible difficulties, calculate the number of loops and the height of the parts. Also, calculations are necessary in the event that your size is not in the knitted clothing magazine.
Step 3
In most models of sweaters for both men and women, the design of the neckline begins when the back and front are knitted. For example, for a regular round neckline, you will need to close a certain number of stitches from the center on both sides. Thus, you will need to draw up the neckline already at a height of 5-10 cm from the beginning of the armhole.
Step 4
If you knit a sweater with knitting needles with an interesting pattern, then when knitting the neckline, you will need to carefully monitor the change in the pattern.
Step 5
Be sure to correlate the result obtained with the pattern made in advance. If the neck of the product does not match the paper pattern, look for your mistakes from the very beginning of knitting the neckline.
Step 6
After you finish the neckline, armhole and shoulder seams, you will need to sew the details of the sweater. First, the shoulder seams are sewn (it is better to use the same threads that were used for the product itself), then the sleeves are sewn in and last of all the side seams on the back / front and sleeves.

Then you will need to cast a certain number of loops around the top edge of the sewn sweater. If you do not have enough space for a set of loops at the edge of the neck, then you can partially pick up the threads from the previous row.
Step 8
Next, you will need to knit from 10 to 15 cm, depending on what type of collar is provided in your sweater. If your sweater has a simple 2 * 2 or 3 * 3 neck tie, then you will need to make 6-10 rows (the thicker the yarn, the fewer rows of tie need to be done).
