Step 2

After placing wax paper in three sections between the pages, glue these sections together. Place one insert in the middle of the book. Couplings will be located in this place. The other two inserts should be closer to the covers, about ten pages away. Do not glue several pages on each side so that you can sew on the couplings.

Step 3

Apply a thin layer of glue around the edges of the page in the two middle sections. Also glue the pages at the spine. Allow the book to dry by placing it under the load to seal the pages tightly. Use a needle to make holes in the pages around the edges where the fabric will be sewn.

Step 4

Open the book and outline how wide the clutch will open. Outline this shape and mirror it by adding 1.5 cm seam allowances. Cut out two patterns, fold them in half.

Step 5

Sew together pieces of fabric, turn out and iron the workpieces. Sew the fabric to the pages along the marked holes. The narrowest part of the insert should be closer to the spine and the folds should be facing the book.

Step 6

After sewing on the fabric, glue the remaining pages with matte glue. Use waxed paper to prevent glueing of what you don't need to glue. Glue the fastener to the book with epoxy glue.
