Long stitches (also called extended stitches in knitting guides) are decorative crochet stitches. With its help, interestingly designed things with the effect of pile or curls are created. You can decorate the edge of the product with elongated thread arches, make “hair” or “mane” for funny children's toys, or completely make “furry” clothes with them. To work, you will need a plank of a suitable height or other available means.

It is necessary

  • - working thread;
  • - hook;
  • - strip (ruler, strip of thick cardboard).

Instructions

Step 1

Choose the right working yarn. It should be soft and solid (that is, not from twisted components). In this case, the thread must be taken thick or folded several times thin. Also prepare an auxiliary tool, the height of which will correspond to the required size of the long loops. They can serve as a smoothly planed strip (options: a ruler, a strip of thick cardboard).

Step 2

Make a chain of chain stitches of the required length. After that, you need to complete one or three preparatory rows of simple single crochet posts. Then there is a lifting loop, and you can start knitting long loops.

Step 3

Attach a bar to the strip of posts and (holding the end of the working thread with your thumb), wrap the working tool with yarn. Grab the thread with a crochet and complete a single crochet - it should tightly grip the plane of the plank. Here is the first long loop.

Step 4

Continue to knit long loops to the end of the row, then turn the work over. From the seamy side of the "pile" fabric, all elongated bows must be fixed. To do this, make the first lifting loop; do one single crochet into each thread bow.

Step 5

Remove the fixed hinges from the working tool and measure their height. Usually, before performing the next long loops, you need to make two more rows of single crochets. If you are not lengthening the loops too much, then follow the columns in each front row of knitting.

Step 6

Hold the ready-made long loops with your hand on the back of the bar, then circle the thread with the working tool, making a forward movement. The hook should go into the loop of the underlying row, lift the thread onto the rod and pull it through the loop. Work further, creating new identical "villi".
