Step 1
Choose a material. It is better to weave the lanyard from a synthetic cord, since this material is wear-resistant and does not rot from dampness. In addition, the ends of the synthetic cord can be melted down for a more secure fit than the traditional end knot. It is advisable to choose a lace round, not flat. The length and thickness of the cord determine the future dimensions of the product, therefore, for example, for a voluminous and short lanyard, a coarse and thick cord up to 50 cm long should be selected. grass or snow.
Step 2
Take the knife to which you want to attach the lanyard. There should be a hole at the end of the knife handle for attaching the lanyard. Some small knives with metal handles have a special loop. If there is no loop or hole in your knife, you need to carefully drill a hole up to 5 mm in diameter.

Take two pieces of cord about 25 cm long. They can be of the same color, but lanyards, woven from multi-colored ropes, look much more elegant. Pass one of the cords through the hole in the knife handle and tie a simple knot to the center of the second cord.
Step 4
Weave the resulting four cords into a cage. To do this, it is necessary to put all the ends on top of each other at right angles, so that each previous cord passes under the one in front. Tighten the braiding tight enough, the tighter the cords are intertwined in the product, the neater and more durable the lanyard will be.
Step 5
Tie a knot at the end of the lanyard. Trim the cut ends or hide them inside the product. You can pre-melt them over a flame to prevent the product from blooming. However, it should be remembered that the fused lanyard will not be able to dissolve if desired and will simply have to be cut from the handle.
