The technological process of processing a diamond into a brilliant includes the following sequential stages: preliminary study of crystals, marking of the diamond, sawing it, the stage of regrinding, roughing and the final stages of cutting, polishing, rinsing the diamond and its evaluation.

Step 1
These stages in the creation of a diamond are somewhat technologically modified, but the essence remains unchanged for a long time. At present, diamonds are still used to process diamonds, although there is a gradual introduction of laser installations for some individual operations.
Step 2
A preliminary survey is carried out in order to determine exactly how these or those diamonds will be processed - they are divided into different shapes, highlight those that will be sawed in the future, and those that will need to be split or polished. Crystals with various defects are singled out separately, and the specific location of these defects is determined. At the final stage of this process, the weight of the future diamond, its geometry and approximate cost are approximately determined.
Step 3
To mark the crystal, special lines are applied to its surface, along which the diamond will be split or sawn in the future, but if regrinding is necessary, the plane of the crystal area is determined. The main goal of this stage is to mark the crystal in such a way that the result is one or more diamonds with the maximum value.
Step 4
In the course of sawing or splitting, the diamond is divided into crystals that are optimal, according to the production technologist. Such division often hides or completely removes diamond defects.
Step 5
Resurfacing involves the process of removing excess mass from a diamond if the initial crystals are irregular in shape.
Step 6
Roughing is the most important stage of the whole process, on which the further use of the diamond depends, at this stage the diamond acquires the initial shape of the future diamond.
Step 7
Cutting is the process of applying facets to a diamond at the desired angle, which will give the diamond the ability to refract as much as possible all the rays of light falling on it. The cut is obtained by rubbing the diamond against a diamond grinding disc, and then the main and additional facets are applied to the crystal.
Step 8
Subsequent polishing of the stone gives it maximum purity and high reflection coefficient of the stone.
Step 9
The final stage of crystal processing is washing it with alcohols and acids, which removes oils and impurities from the diamond obtained during the processing.
In the future, diamonds are sorted by carat, cut, color in accordance with the existing industry classification.
