A stamp is a fragile collectible. Improper storage leads to the death of the collection or a decrease in its value. The most important factors that affect the preservation of stamps are air humidity, position of stamps and illumination.

Step 1
All properties of paper are inherent in brands. Bright lighting is one of the reasons that contribute to its aging. Prevent direct light from entering the stamps. Store them in a dark place.
Step 2
Maintain the correct temperature range for storing stamps - 15 to 21 degrees. Indoor humidity should be 50-65 percent. Too dry air can dry out paper and glue - marks will become brittle. High humidity is a favorable environment for mold and bacteria to grow on stamps.
Step 3
To store stamps, select a separate cabinet, which you place away from heating appliances. The distance to the wall should be 5-10 cm. Tighten the glass doors with a dark cloth to prevent light from entering.
Step 4
Get a good quality album to store your stamps. When buying a stockbook, pay attention to the quality of the cardboard. Its surface should not be fluffy, but smooth, so that the adhesive side of the stamp does not deteriorate.
Step 5
Check the paint fastness of the cardboard. To do this, rub the surface with a damp cloth or paper. There should be no paint marks on them.
Step 6
Do not stack albums and stock books. They should stand like books to prevent stamps from sticking to the sheets. In this position, they will not lose their elasticity.
Step 7
Periodically flip through all stockbooks and albums for airing. Better to fan the sheets of the album and leave in this position for 30 minutes.
Step 8
Ventilate the room where stamps are kept systematically. Stagnant and musty air, dust, and tobacco smoke have a negative effect on paints and paper. Airing in rainy weather should not be long.
Step 9
Stamps bought in the winter, before placing them in an album or stockbook, hold them in the room for about 30 minutes. Use tweezers to flip them over to evaporate excess moisture. By observing these rules, you will keep the stamps intact.
