Domestic palms are able to revive the interior and bring some zest to it, create coziness. These tropical plants are very unpretentious, so you can easily create an exotic paradise in your apartment, the main thing is to learn how to properly care for home palm trees.
Instructions
Step 1
There are over 3000 types of palm trees, which can be divided into two main types - subtropical and tropical. A common feature of domesticated palms is that they do not tolerate hypothermia and do not like drafts. Therefore, the window sill (like the marble floor) is not the most favorable place for growing a tropical plant. Palm trees love bright lighting. If you keep the plant in a dark room, then it will stretch out and become weak.
Step 2
Do not place pots with palm trees near heating radiators, the high temperature and dry air can seriously damage the leaves and root system. Since palms are tropical plants, they require abundant watering. If the house palm grows in well-drained soil, it can be watered regularly without too much concern. Some plants start to rot with careless watering. Roots do not like to be in water for a long time, promptly remove excess water from the pan.
Step 3
Running water contains a lot of salts that settle in the soil and can harm the roots. Therefore, the soil should be leached every three months. To do this, take the pot with the plant out into the open air and water it abundantly several times, as if rinsing the earth from accumulated salts. If you use distilled water for irrigation, then such manipulations will not be required. High humidity is the best growing environment for indoor palms. At low humidity, the leaves of the plant dry out and become unsightly. Spray the houseplant with distilled water daily (several times a day).
Step 4
The palm tree is a fast growing plant, so it should be transplanted into a larger pot every two to three years. Palm trees do not tolerate the exposure of the root system, therefore it is important to keep the earthen lump intact during transshipment. Partial replacement of the topsoil is also allowed. To preserve a whole earthen ball, cut the plastic pots.
