In order to draw boots, you need to depict the leg on which they will be worn, create outlines that match the contour of the shoes, and decorate with decorative elements or stitching.
Instructions
Step 1
Begin drawing the boot by showing the leg it is wearing. You don't have to draw your toes or ankles, the main thing is to make a sketch that fully reflects the rise of the foot, the elongation of the toe, and the thickness of the calves. If you want to draw a boot with a heel, imagine that the heel is at some elevation, for example, on a child's cube. Highlight the curve between the heel and toes. Try to maintain proportions between the length of the foot and lower leg.
Step 2
Put boots on the sketched leg. To do this, draw a line corresponding to the outline of the shoe, at a short distance from the auxiliary sketch. Consider the style of the boot, such as a pointed or rounded toe, and the length and width of the bootleg. If you're drawing gumboots, keep them as simple as possible.
Step 3
Add details and decor elements. These include buckles, rivets, leather fringes, straps, appliqués and inserts, lacing, decorative zippers, stitching and even bows.
Step 4
Remember that some boots have a wide elastic band on the inside of the boot, allowing the product to fit perfectly over the leg. In addition, the cut of the boot can be different, it can have a seam along the contour of the toes, like in moccasins, be sewn from many parts or one-piece.
Step 5
Draw the sole of the boot. Depending on the chosen model, it can be thick or thin, it is located along the entire length of the bottom of the shoe.
Step 6
Don't forget the heel. Select the area under the heel, depict the detail of the shape you like. The heel can be square, round or triangular in cross section. In addition, you can draw a wedge boot, in this case, draw a horizontal line from the toe to the end of the heel, connect with a vertical line, round the outlines of the wedge on a horizontal surface, draw a bend between the toe and heel.
Step 7
Start coloring. If you are painting a leather boot, try to make it glossy, but if your shoe is made of suede, its surface should be matte. Note that the boot fits over the foot, so it shouldn't look flat. To add volume to the shoe, be sure to highlight the area of light, partial shade and shadow on the shaft. If the skin forms folds in the ankle area, highlight them with color.
