Everything new is well forgotten old. The good old felt boots are regaining a second life, noticeably transforming in the hands of today's designers and turning into an ultra-fashionable thing, a must-have of any wardrobe. Valenki, decorated with painting, embroidery, fur or rhinestones, with a curly top or knitted cuffs - shoes are not only stylish and original, warm and comfortable, but, importantly, they are also environmentally friendly. Even a beginner can paint felt boots - this is a great opportunity to create a unique thing with your own hands.

It is necessary

  • - felt boots;
  • - acrylic paints for painting textiles;
  • - bristle brushes;
  • - palette;
  • - PVA glue;
  • - marker;
  • - transparencies;
  • - iron;
  • - thin cotton fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose felt boots of the right size and model (now many types are produced). Come up with a drawing you would like to put on them. Based on the design, choose felt boots in white, gray, black or some other shade. Acrylic paints with good hiding power will be bright even on dark felt.

Step 2

Sketch a full-size drawing for felt boots on paper. You can translate the drawing you like using carbon paper or tracing paper.

Step 3

Dilute PVA glue with water in an approximate proportion: 1 part glue to 1 part water. Cover the parts of the boots where you will apply the drawing with diluted glue using a wide brush. This preliminary primer will facilitate the process of drawing on the fleecy material of felt boots, especially if there are many small details in the drawing. Once dry, the glue will be transparent and almost invisible.

Step 4

Draw the contours of the pattern on the felt boots with a thin remnant or crayon. On white felt, the drawing is applied with a simple pencil with light barely noticeable lines.

Step 5

To make the drawing symmetrical on both felt boots, you can transfer it with a marker onto a transparent film fixed on one felt boot, and then “mirror” it onto the second felt boot using carbon paper. However, not perfectly symmetrical and completely asymmetrical designs also look great.

Step 6

Draw in color with acrylics and different thicknesses of stiff bristle brushes. The drawing technique can be any - from graphic ornament with clear contour lines to painterly images with complex color transitions. Draw small details with a thin brush or contour paints for textiles.

Step 7

Let the paints dry for 5-8 hours. Then fix the drawing with a hot iron without steam, holding it for five minutes on the surface of each felt boot, covered with a dry cotton cloth. In this case, you need to try to attach (and hold) the iron to all the bends of the boots, on which there is a drawing.
