Instructions

Step 1

Start with the following: the seam where you will place your invisible zipper must be sewn, overcast (zigzag or overlock) and ironed. The zipper itself should be slightly longer than the opening for the zipper, approximately 1.5-2 cm.

Step 2

Turn the product over to the reverse (wrong) side. Open the zipper and fold one side of its strap face to face with any of the zipper slit allowances. Remember - the zipper tape should lie on the allowance, and the edge of its teeth should exactly coincide with the ironed edge of the cut!

Step 3

Baste in the middle of the tape, it’s faster and more comfortable. It is only necessary to take care of a good fastening of the thread at the beginning and end of the basting stitches so that the fastener does not move when you sew it on the typewriter. Finish the basting at the top of the cut flush with the cut; it is on the basting thread that you will find out where to stop the sewing machine needle when stitching. After that, in the same way, baste the second side of the tape to the other allowance for the cut for the zipper-fastener, only this must be done in the opposite direction - you need to start the sides of the zipper slider. This is necessary so that irregularities do not appear in the top of the zipper cut. You should not stretch the fabric of the product under the braid, otherwise, after the end of sewing, the zipper will lie unevenly, with bumps.

Step 4

Go to machining. Use the dedicated foot. Place the desired side of the open fastener tape under the lamp so that the spiral is to the left of the needle. Open the spiral with your fingernail so that you can see the seam line between the ribbon and the spiral - set the protrusion at the foot exactly on this seam line. In the future, the spiral will be kept open without your participation. Begin to grind the tape, making sure that the protrusion of the foot does not stray from the border. Stop sewing exactly where the basting ends. It is better not to do the fastening with a machine; tie the threads by hand. Then attach the other side of the zipper in the same way. Remove the basting, tie the ends on the threads with knots. Close the clasp.
