The guitar is an instrument that opens up tremendous opportunities for the performer. Thanks to the processing of the melody, a variety of methods of sound production, various gadgets and techniques, each musician has his own, unique sound. Punk-rock music, which is as far as possible from classical performance, is an excellent proof of the breadth of the instrument's capabilities.
Instructions
Step 1
Get an electric guitar. There can be no question of trying to play punk rock on nylon strings - you won't be able to get the sound you want. Acoustic guitar in this respect is more profitable, however, it only allows you to practice some techniques and "try on" the game. In order to get the canonical sound, an electric guitar with dynamic bells and whistles (such as distortion) is used.
Step 2
The instrument can be tuned in very different ways depending on the song and artist. A more or less average option is to use only overdrive (a situation when the sound of the guitar itself is set to maximum), however, a lotion is periodically activated to create an even more grating sound. The nuances of the performance of specific compositions can be selected by ear (watching live performances) or searched on fan forums.
Step 3
Master power chords. Literally this can be translated as "power chords", they are denoted by the postfix 5 or 6 (A # 5) and are modified versions of the usual barre playing. In order to exclude the sound of high strings, which sometimes only interferes, only the upper strings (three or two) are clamped when playing. The placement of the fingers is preserved, however, the 4 lower strings are only "muffled": the performer puts his finger on them, but does not press it to the fret, completely preventing sounding. Most of the compositions are performed in this way.
Step 4
Play your favorite music. In order to avoid the invention of the wheel, learn to play in this genre, relying on the creativity of your favorite artists.
Step 5
Rock it! Punk rock relies not so much on quality performance (sometimes musicians deliberately upset the instrument), but rather on creating a show. The performance is accompanied by continuous leaps across the stage, a voice on the verge of breaking ligaments and full dedication - in many ways this is what defines punk as a genre.
