Instructions

Step 1

The slot is cut in the form of allowances with a width of 4-6 cm. on both details of the back fabric of the skirt, the allowance length is the length of the slots plus an allowance of 1.5-2cm. Sew a basting stitch along the entire length of the middle seam of the back of the skirt, including the vents, and leave the open stitching until finished. For rigidity, duplicate the entire width and length of the allowance to the basting stitching on the upper part of the back fabric of the skirt (when viewed from the front side, this part will be from the left). On the right part (the one that will be visible when the slots are opened), only the very edge, 1.5 cm wide, should be glued. Any material is suitable for duplication, such as serpyanka or flesilin.

Step 2

Overlock both edges with matching threads. Fold the edge of the right part in the area of the slots to a width of 1-2 cm, sew or fasten manually with blind or cross stitches. The edge of the left part is left as is.

Step 3

Starting from the top, we grind the middle seam of the skirt and the slope. If there is a zipper in this seam, be sure to leave it open. We process the edges with an overlock stitch along with the slope, the edges at the location of the lock are overcast separately. If desired, the edges can be edged, so the product will look more beautiful, but such processing requires much more time and skill. Iron on and iron on the slot.

Step 4

On the front side, lay out the almost finished slot evenly, pin it with pins to the left canvas, draw a slope line with sharp chalk and sew a stitch. Either only the slope or the entire middle seam is removed, it all depends on the model. The finished slot from the front looks like a number one. Again, according to the model, the stitching can be double or made with contrasting threads to make the product more decorative.

Step 5

The bottom of the slots is usually processed into a corner and fixed by hand. If the product is lined, you do not need to process the edges, this will create extra thickness. The products are connected with the lining in the last turn, in the place of the slots it is either attached manually with secret stitches, or the edges are attached from the inside to the allowance.
