In the past, simple tabletop slot machines were often exhibited at exhibitions of technical creativity of young people. Nothing prevents to revive this tradition today, again feeling the atmosphere of such exhibitions at home.
Instructions
Step 1
Take an unnecessary wooden cutting board. On it, attach the compartment for two D-type batteries, the power switch, brackets for the thyristor and the light bulb, and the holder for the replacement wire figure.
Step 2
Observing the polarity, connect in series the battery compartment, the KU202 thyristor with any letter index (observing the polarity - plus to the anode), the switch and the light bulb for a voltage of 6, 3 V and a current of 0.2 A. Fix the thyristor and the light bulb on the brackets. Place the light bulb at a distance of at least 30 millimeters from the tree.
Step 3
Make the dipstick about 200 mm long. For safety, it should not be sharp. Equip it with an insulating handle and connect it to the thyristor anode. Never plug the probe into the mains.
Step 4
Connect the figure holder to the control electrode of the thyristor. Make a free-form 3D figure out of bare wire and fasten it to the holder. The figure should give the player the opportunity to pass a probe through it without touching it, but it should be made in such a way that this is difficult enough.
Step 5
Insert the batteries, observing the polarity, and then turn on the power of the gaming machine. Try to slide the probe through the shapes without touching it. If this does happen, the light will turn on. The other player can keep track of the time using a regular stopwatch. Then switch roles with him. Which of the players (there may be several) will be able to cope with the task more accurately and faster?
Step 6
If the player does not cope with the task, the light will remain on even after the connection of the probe to the figure is broken. The thyristor will work as a kind of storage device. To turn off the light, turn the appliance off and on. Install a reset button if desired. It must short-circuit the thyristor. The lamp will go out when released. For long breaks in the game, turn off the power, because even when the light is off, a small current flows through the thyristor, gradually discharging the batteries.
