Ampel plants are becoming more and more popular. Florists are attracted by their beauty and the ability to use them in any, even inaccessible for other plants, corners of the garden. Balls of bright colors can be hung on tree branches, on walls, in gazebos, on balconies. Closer to summer, such plants are sold in flower shops. But making such a composition on your own to your taste is a special pleasure.
Instructions
Step 1
The classic basket allows the plant to grow, pass through the walls, forming a ball. Such a basket consists of a mesh frame and an insert made of pressed peat, felt or coconut fiber. Sometimes moist sphagnum lined with several layers serves as a liner. The modern type of baskets is a plastic container with lattice inserts for planting plants in the walls. Please note that the weight of these baskets after watering is about 6-8 kg. Choose the appropriate mount.
Step 2
Soil for flower baskets should be light, nutritious and moisture-permeable and at the same time good at retaining moisture. The most optimal will be a mixture of high-moor peat, sand and humus, in a ratio of 3: 1: 1. In order to keep moisture in the soil longer, you can add a hydrogel to the soil. In order not to subsequently fertilize the plants, slow-acting fertilizers for annuals can be put in the soil.
Step 3
From 8 to 15 plants are planted in one basket, it all depends on the size of the basket and the planned composition. Flower care consists in timely watering, periodic fertilization. Foliar dressing is very useful, in this case the fertilizer concentration is 2-3 times lower than that of the root one. In order for a basket of flowers to always be neat and attractive, it is necessary to remove faded buds in time. For better tillering, you need to pinch strongly stretching shoots.
Step 4
For hanging baskets, it is better to opt for plants that are content with a small amount of soil. Also important is their coexistence with other plants. Ivy, petunias, lobelias, fuchsias, sweet peas, chlorophytum, tradescantia, budra and others will feel good along the edges and in the walls of the basket. In the center, dwarf species of marigolds, pelargoniums, begonia, ageratum, snapdragons, compact varieties of petunias, chrysanthemums, coleus and cineraria, and many miniature species of other annuals, look beautiful.
