Almost every novice beekeeper is faced with the problem of where to get bees. You can just catch the swarm. By doing this, you will do a good deed for the bees, since a wandering swarm that has flown into your lands is most likely trying to find a home. "Alien" swarm usually comes from a wild apiary or from careless owners who missed the right moment.

It is necessary

  • Hive box
  • A piece of canvas soaked in propolis
  • 6-8 standard frames
  • Frame with sushi
  • Rope
  • Ladder

Instructions

Step 1

Make a trap. It is a box for 6-8 standard frames. Make a notch in the middle or at the bottom of the "facade". Attach the mesh to the tap hole so that it can be closed at the right time. Place the dry frames in the hive. Place a piece of canvas on top of the hive.

Step 2

Tie the trap to a tree at a height of approximately 3.5 - 4 m.

Step 3

Check the traps every day. When you find a swarm, move the trap to your apiary late at night. The first days the bees must live in a trap. Cover the entrance with branches. This is necessary so that the bees fly around and remember the new place before starting their journey.

Step 4

When the bees get used to the place, move them to a stationary hive. Place the stationary hive in the same place where the trap was previously.
