Preparing for the manufacture of expeditionary luggage rack

So, first you should prepare all the tools and material that may be required in the process. Steel pipes can be used as a base, which will then be welded according to the drawing. By the way, it is better to make a drawing even before preparing materials. A tape measure and a welding machine are also integral tools for work.
The length of the pipes must necessarily correspond to the dimensions of the roof. True, all cars have different sizes, so it is necessary to carefully carry out all measurements and make accurate calculations. The loads on the future structure will be significant.
The main stages of work
To make a trunk with your own hands, you should weld the corner posts together (their size is determined individually for each car). The same manipulations are performed with the uprights. Do not forget about installing additional stiffeners. They are extremely necessary, because under too heavy loads, pipes can simply bend under the force of gravity. There will obviously not be any sense from such a trunk. Stiffeners should be evenly distributed around the entire perimeter of the product. Their optimal spacing should not exceed 22 cm.
Be sure to weld the nuts along the edges of the corner posts. This is done so that later you can fix the tent on the roof. Even after completion of the work, the structure of the trunk may seem unreliable. But redoing everything is not at all necessary. It will be enough to weld additional amplifiers to the trunk. It is possible to create conditions for better air sliding by welding a trapezoid structure to the front of the trunk. The size of the base of the geometrical figure should be equal to the width of the manufactured platform.
You can also attach the front headlight unit to the finished product. LED brake lights can be attached to the rear of the expedition rack. By the way, a trunk made on your own is also versatile because an antenna, pneumatic signal horns and a lot of other useful "gadgets" can be attached to it.
