Empty bottles appear regularly in every home. Most often they are thrown away. But you can turn the most ordinary bottle into a real work of art that will decorate a festive table or shelf in the closet. Decoupage of bottles is not difficult, but you need to stock up on materials, patience and free time.
We select materials
Some of the materials needed to decorate a bottle can be purchased at any stationery store. For the rest, you will have to walk to the place where they sell goods for artists, but in any case, everything you need is quite affordable. You will need a bottle and cloth, of course. In addition to them, prepare more:
- PVA glue;
- alcohol;
- putty;
- acrylic paints;
- acrylic primer;
- acrylic lacquer;
- the image that you will transfer to the fabric.
The drawing can be drawn on thin paper and cut out. If you are not too confident in your abilities, find a suitable picture and print.
It is desirable that the set contains gold or silver acrylic paint.
Cooking a bottle
Before you start turning the bottle into an original souvenir, wash it and remove all paper stickers. It is usually sufficient to wet them with warm water. The bottle must be thoroughly wiped with alcohol, that is, remove the fat from it. This should be done regardless of whether the fabric will cover the bottle completely or partially. Prime the bottle with acrylic varnish. It will dry out pretty quickly.
Patch elements can be combined with a pattern applied directly to the glass, and with knitted elements.
Decoupage partially covered with fabric
The design of such a bottle consists of two parts. Above is a decorative pattern made with acrylic paints, and the bottom is decorated with patches. Prime the bottle. Decoupage is not drawing a picture, but attaching it. You can, for example, cut an ornament out of paper and stick it on, and then varnish it. Be careful not to protrude the edges of the pattern.
To cover it with a decoupage cloth, pour the glue into a bowl and dilute it with water in a 1: 1 ratio. The fabric will stick better to the bottle if you add a little putty. If you have unpainted linen or leftover white sheets, add paint of the desired color. Dip a cloth in the solution, let it soak, and then wring it out. The patch can be of any shape, but it must be large enough. Wrap the bottom of the bottle, leaving the top open. Lay the fabric in delicate folds. The bottle should be allowed to dry for about a day. Apply the rest of the decorative elements. You can use glitter, beads, and even foam balls. After the small pieces are ready, cover the entire bottle with varnish and let it dry.
You can highlight the folds with gold or silver paint.
Full decoupage of the bottle with a cloth
The bottle can be completely covered with a cloth. Any shreds will do, but chintz, satin or silk are best. They must be washed and dried beforehand. Mix the glue with water, dip the shreds in there and let them soak. Take out the pieces of fabric one at a time and stick them on the bottle. You can cut a round or oval piece and make a medallion out of it. In this case, the fabric must be glued evenly, without folds. The rest of the pieces of fabric are folded.
Dry the bottle covered with a cloth. Stick a drawing on the medallion - for example, taking it from a napkin. Only the reverse of the drawing is covered with glue, and strictly along the contour lines. Tear off excess paper after the glue dries. The rest of the bottle can be decorated with small items that match the style. Volumetric details are also suitable - beads, bead ornament, etc. You can paint your creation if necessary. For this, acrylic or watercolor paints, as well as gouache are suitable. To top off the process, cover the entire surface of the bottle with varnish and dry.
