A beautiful sailboat, slowly and stately cleaving the waves, floats to the shore. A wonderful picture. And even if the sailboat is a toy, even if it is not yours, it does not matter. If you want to make a model of a sailing ship, just read this article to the end.
It is necessary
- Styrofoam;
- Thin wooden planks;
- Scotch;
- Cardboard;
- Not too thick fabric;
- Paper cutter;
- Wire.
Instructions
Step 1
First, make the hull of the ship. For the hull, we need polystyrene, but we will only make it up to the waterline, leaving the bottom flat. For the mast to stand well enough 3 cm. Along the contour of the deck, cut the hull with a cutter, then sharpen the bow and cut the stern with the sides.
Step 2
Now you will need to sheathe the hull. Take cardboard and cut out figures from it along the contours of the sides and stern. Don't forget about the bulwarks. Having outlined the lines on the cardboard along the contours, add 7 mm to them from above and cut everything with the bulwark together. Cut out the deck as well. Next, paint the casing blanks. You can choose any color of your choice. On the deck, do not forget to also mark the positions of the masts with crosses. After attaching the casing, wrap it with tape so that your model does not get wet in the water. You can also glue cardboard blanks for sheathing before gluing them on board the ship.
Step 3
Now make the masts and sails. Carve the yards with masts from the planks. Rays can be attached to the masts with wire. When grinding the mast, make it gradually taper towards the top, but the bottom should also be sharp. Cut the sails out of the fabric and remember that the straightened sail is slightly wider in width than in height. After making a few holes in the finished sails, tie them to the yards with threads.
Step 4
Now place the masts on the deck at the locations marked with crosses. The ship is almost ready. All that remains is to install the rudder on it so that the ship sails straight. Take a small piece of cardboard and stick it in the stern along the axis of symmetry.
Step 5
You can launch the ship. If it falls sideways on the water, then you need to hang a small but massive sinker on a wire to its bottom at a depth of about 5 cm.
