With the help of silk embroidery, quivering, delicate paintings with the play of shadow and light are created. They contain watercolor transitions of light and air. In China, this subtle art form was taught to every girl in the past. Today and outside this state, many girls are learning to embroider with silk.

It is necessary

  • - a flap of silk or other fabric;
  • - cardboard blank for the future picture;
  • - pencil;
  • - multicolored silk threads.

Instructions

Step 1

Pull a piece of the fabric of your choice over the hoop. Silk embroidery has its own laws. Choose the right fabric for the base. Solid natural silk is recommended as it has a matte sheen, is strong enough and does not deform. Chinese satin stitch is mainly embroidered on red, white or blue silk. In a modern interior, embroidery also looks very beautiful on golden or cream silk. It is not recommended to use synthetic and artificial silks, because they are fragile and most often they can be cut with a needle.

Step 2

Pull the fabric over the hoop. Attach a blank of the future picture, cut out of cardboard, to the fabric and circle it with chalk or pencil, thereby defining the field for embroidery.

Step 3

Use a pencil to outline the drawing on the margin. The embroidery is quite small, so experienced craftsmen can outline the location of the details of the future drawing with dots. Beginners should sketch out the entire drawing. Using silk threads of different colors, embroider all the details of the pattern with satin stitch, that is, as if "shade" them with threads as if you were sketching with colored pencils. At the end of the work, you can walk along the edges of the details of the pattern with colored thread, making very small stitches (1-2 mm). This technique will help make the embroidery more voluminous.

Step 4

Cut out the embroidery, leaving allowances for the covering. Glue it onto the base previously prepared using any quick-drying transparent glue. On the reverse side, glue a piece cut in advance from a denser fabric according to the size of the embroidery. This will help hide the allowances.

Step 5

Insert the embroidery into a frame or frame it with a decorative cord, sticking it along the edge of the picture using the same transparent glue.
