For making boxes with your own hands, many available materials are suitable: plastic containers, jars from cotton swabs, coffee, cream, and even bamboo napkins. All these seemingly unnecessary items can be decorated and turned into an original and very necessary thing.
Bamboo napkin box
A cute jewelry storage box can be made pretty quickly from a bamboo napkin. This material is quite affordable and durable enough. In addition to it, you will also need:
- cardboard;
- the cloth;
- braid;
- scissors;
- hot glue gun;
- large button;
- needle and thread;
- artificial flowers, butterflies and beads for decoration.
Cut out 2 semi-ovals for the sides of the box, their size depends on the desired size of the product. Cut 4 similar pieces of fabric out of the fabric, cut them out, leaving 1 cm on each side for seam allowances. Cover the cardboard blanks with a cloth.
Decorate the inside of the box. Cut out a rectangle equal to the size of the bamboo napkin from the same fabric that was used to cover the sides. Attach it to the wrong side, sew all the cuts with tape by hand or using a sewing machine.
Apply hot glue to the underside of the side pieces and attach them about 5 cm from the edge. Add some more glue to the base of the bamboo napkin box and attach it to the side pieces.
Make a clasp. Sew a large button to the short side. Cut a piece of tape 10 cm long, fold it in half and sew the piece in the middle, leaving 2-3 cm unstitched to form a loop. Attach it to the lid of the box.
Decorate the product. Hot glue the artificial flowers, butterflies and beads to the box.
Cream box
A cute box can be made from scrap materials. One of these is a cream box. The product will turn out to be compact and very convenient, especially when traveling, since the lid of such a jar is tightly twisted, and you will not lose your jewelry.
To make the box, prepare the base. Thoroughly wash the jar from the remains of the cream, remove the label, dry and sand the surface with sandpaper. For decor, take:
- acrylic paints;
- a sponge for washing dishes;
- PVA glue;
- a napkin with a beautiful pattern;
- varnish;
- a brush.
Squeeze some acrylic paints onto the palette. Mix several colors to achieve the desired hue for the background. Sponge the paint on the inside and outside of the jar.
Cut the motif out of the napkin. Separate the top layer. Apply PVA glue to the surface. Attach the drawing, straighten it with a soft brush. After the glue dries, cover the surface of the jar with varnish, let it dry completely and apply another layer.
