The decoupage technique has been known since the 15th century. Modern craftsmen actively use it when decorating a variety of items. The advantage of this technology is that it can decorate any surface, regardless of the material of manufacture. A decoupage box is appropriate in any style, be it country, modern or classic.
It is necessary
- - wooden blank of the box;
- - a set of synthetic brushes;
- - acrylic paint;
- - Toothbrush;

- - white acrylic enamel;
- - PVA glue;
- - patina or brown oil paint;
- - acrylic lacquer;
- - sponge;
- - double sided tape;
- - rice paper;
- - lace;
- - buttons;
- - the cloth.
Instructions
Step 1
Using fine sandpaper, treat the surfaces of the future box and paint it brown with acrylic paint. Perform all further work only after complete drying.
Step 2
Take a candle and carefully rub all the edges and corners of the box. Remove any excess with an old toothbrush.
Step 3
Cover the surfaces of the box with white acrylic enamel and let dry completely.
Step 4
Use a metal scraper or kitchen brush to scrape off the paint where the candle was applied.
Step 5
Remove excess paint from the surface.
Step 6
For decoration, you will need a decoupage card and rice paper, which are chosen based on the style and motives of the future product.
Step 7
Dilute PVA glue with water in a ratio of 1: 3. Smear the surface of the box to which the motifs will be glued with glue. For work, it is better to use a synthetic brush.
Step 8
Gently attach a napkin motif or rice paper to the surface and generously grease with diluted PVA glue. When doing the work, gently smooth out the image with a brush and fingers so that no wrinkles are formed. If you have applied too much glue, remove the excess with a brush. Let the box dry.
Step 9
Rub the edges and corners with a sponge with oil paint or a special patina.
Step 10
Apply acrylic varnish with a brush. Leave the items to dry for 15–20 hours.
Step 11
Glue double-sided tape to the bottom. Cut out a piece of fabric that will be the same size as the bottom of the box. Soak the edges in PVA glue and let dry, attach the fabric to double-sided tape and press well.
Step 12
Lace and buttons will be used for decoration. To artificially age the lace and obtain a pleasant cream or beige color, dilute the coffee, add cinnamon or a few drops of vanilla essence to it. Dip the lace into the container.
Step 13
Preheat the oven to 90-100 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with several layers of paper towels and lay out the lace. Bake for half an hour.
Step 14
If the lace is straight, it will be colored evenly. If you fold in the folds and crumple it slightly, the color will be darker where the creases are.
Step 15
Attractive "old" stains can be obtained by dipping lace in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Sprinkle salt on a wet surface, due to it, intricate patterns are formed.
Step 16
Glue the decor elements to the box with the Moment universal glue.
