Drawing is one of the favorite activities of children. It is also very useful because it develops the fine motor skills of the child's hands. The selection of colored pencils in stores is very large - pencils differ in shape, body thickness, and the number of colors in the set. All these signs must be treated carefully so that the purchase of pencils is successful and pleases your child.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine which pencil shape is right for you. Round pencils are undesirable for very young children - they are difficult to hold in the hand, moreover, they constantly roll off the table, distracting the baby from the creative process. Thin hexagonal pencils are also not ideal, they rub children's fingers, because children often press on the pencil very hard when drawing. Choose triangular pencils for your child. With their help, the child will quickly learn to hold the pencil correctly - "with a pinch", and not clenched in a fist.
Step 2
Pay attention to the softness of the pencils. Traditionally, softness is indicated by the Russian letters T and M or the Latin letters H and B and the numbers in front of them. But on colored pencils, the degree of softness is not always indicated. Determine the softness of the lead by drawing a few lines with a pencil - soft pencils draw lightly and brightly, leaving colorful lines without strong pressure.
Step 3
A special group of colored pencils are watercolor pencils. Introduce your child to the technique of drawing with them. They can also be used as ordinary colored pencils, the lead of such pencils is soft and it is very convenient to draw with them. If the finished drawing is slightly moistened with a damp brush, the lines will blur a little and the drawing will look like painted in watercolor. Try a different technique - wet the tip of the pencil before touching the paper, or draw with dry pencil on wet paper.
Step 4
Decide how many pencil shades you need in the set. For the youngest kids just starting out with color, buy a small set of 6-12 colors. For older children, offer larger sets - 24 or 36 colors. And for those who draw professionally, sets of tens or even hundreds of shades are suitable.
