The product, knitted with an English or semi-English elastic band, looks lush and voluminous. However, those who use this knitting for the first time will inevitably face the question of how to close the loops so that the sweater or dress does not stretch at the edges. There are several techniques for making the last row even and elastic.
It is necessary
- - a product knitted with an English elastic band;
- - knitting needles;
- - yarn.
Instructions
Step 1
Tie the product to the last row. The peculiarity of the English elastic is that some of the loops are first removed untied with a crochet, and on the next row they are knitted together with the same crochet. That is, the first row is knitted like a regular 1x1 elastic, in the second the front loop is knitted with the front loop, and the back loop is knitted with a yarn over the right knitting needle. In the next row, the front one is knitted together with the front crochet, and the back one is removed with a crochet. As a result, in front of the last row on the needles, about 1/3 more loops are obtained than it should be in size. If you close them in the usual way, a loop into a loop, then the last row will turn out to be longer than all the others by the same third. If you knit the last row with a regular elastic without making yarn overs, then it will be thinner than the rest. Therefore, it is better to close them with a double thread.
Step 2
Without lifting the threads from the ball, unwind the piece and fold it over the main one to make a long loop. It should be of such a size that you can close the last row on it. Since at the end of knitting you will still break the thread, then let the loop be longer. Hold the place where the unwound thread touches the ball until you close the first loop.
Step 3
In the last row of knitting, double-thread the hem along with the next loop as you normally would. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the pattern of the elastic. That is, if the next loop after the edge loop is purl, then purl them and knit them. If there is a front one with a crochet, knit it with a front one with a hem and a crochet. Knit the remaining loop on the knitting needle with the next one according to the same principle, over the purl - purl, over the front with a crochet - front.
Step 4
The English elastic band on circular knitting needles is knitted in a slightly different way. There are no nakids in it. Purl loops are knitted with purl. To knit an "English" knit, insert the right knitting needle into the wrong loop that is now on the left, but under it and knit like a regular knit. It turns out to be knitted from two loops. This simplified English gum is closed as usual. That is, just knit 2 loops, depending on the pattern.
