The need to close the loops in the middle of the row most often arises when knitting a neck. Even if there is a fastener on the shelf or back, the second part is knitted with one cloth. The seam in the middle does not decorate the product, unless it is provided for by the style and is not decorative. Moreover, for most products, the neck should be symmetrical. That is, you need to close a strictly defined number of loops.

Instructions
Step 1
Count how many loops you need to close. At the beginning of work, you have already calculated their number for a set. In this case, the principle is the same. Measure the width of the cutout along the pattern. You need to measure between the extreme points of the horizontal line of the neck, where the rise to the shoulders begins. Multiply the resulting size by the number of loops in one centimeter. Let's say your knitting density is 3 loops per 1 cm, and the distance between lifting points on the shoulder is 15 cm. Multiplying 15 by 3, you get 45. So many loops you need to close.
Step 2
Since the stitches you need are in the middle of the row, you need to count how much you need to knit before closing. Subtract those that you will close from the total number of loops on the knitting needles. For example, you have a knitting width of 80 stitches. Subtract 45 from this number. You get 35 loops. This number must be divided by 2. In this case, it is odd, so take the extra loop to the neck. That is, it is necessary to close not 45, but 46 loops. It is necessary to knit 17 loops to the neck, counting the hem. If the threads and knitting needles are thick, and the knitting is loose, then you can do otherwise. Add the extra loop to one shoulder. In this case, you need to knit 18 loops, then close 44 and leave 18 on the second shoulder.
Step 3
Start the last row. This can be done in two ways, depending on whether you will knit the shoulders at the same time or sequentially. In the first case, start the row with the same knitting needles. It is better to knit at the same time on circular, but you can also on straight lines. In the second case, use an extra knitting needle. Use it to knit the first row of the shoulder and leave the loops on it. In any case, there should be as many of them as you identified on the shoulder. To close the middle loops in the second case, you will be using the same knitting needles on which the entire product was knitted.
Step 4
To close the middle sts, start from the loop behind the last shoulder loop. Knit it together with the next one and remove to the right knitting needle as you usually do. Follow the picture. If the second loop in the pair is purl, knit the loops of the hem of the purl, if the front one, then the front one. Close the required number of loops. Compare your shoulders in width.
Step 5
Tie a row and turn the work over. If you are going to do the side parts in turn, then do the one you just moved to first. Tie it all the way, break and tighten the thread. Go to the second shoulder. Since you finished the row in front of the middle stitches, then you need to start the next one from the side of the closing line.
Step 6
The shoulders can be knitted at the same time. This is even more convenient, since this method allows for better symmetry. Close as many middle stitches as needed and finish off the row. Turn the work over, knit the first row of the shoulder and slide it to the end of the knitting needle on which the stopper is located, or on the line. Tie yarn from the second ball to the beginning of the closure line and tie the first row of the other sidewall. Start the next row from the same ball. Tie it to the neck, slide the loops to the stopper. Skip the closed middle stitches and end the row with yarn from the first ball. Thus, knit to the end of the part.
