When finishing work on a knitted headdress, you should close or, in other words, fasten the loops on the product. Loops are closed on the finished part using knitting needles, a hook or a needle with a wide eye and a blunt end. To close the loops on the hats, use the same methods as for other knitted work.

Instructions
Step 1
Loop fastening is mainly used when knitting the following types of hats:
• helmet;
• hats with a lapel;
• berets;
• knitted hats.
For ordinary hats, it is enough to decrease the loops in several rows at the end of the work.
Step 2
Crocheting the loops. This method is the easiest and fastest. For an elasticated edge, use the same size crochet hook as the knitting needles. If you need a tight edge, use a crochet hook two sizes smaller than the knitting needles.
Step 3
When closing the loops, insert the hook into the hem loop and pull the working thread through it, thus creating an air loop on the hook. Then crochet each loop from the knitting needle and knit both loops as if you were knitting a chain of air loops.
Step 4
Securing the loops by knitting. The loops to be closed must correspond to the main pattern: on the front side, the fastened loops are knitted with front knitting, and on the wrong side - with the wrong side.
Step 5
On the front side of the fabric, knit the edge and the next loop after it with the front one, and then pull through the second knitted loop. Next, knit one loop at a time, pulling it into the loop knitted earlier. On the seamy side of the product, remove the edge loop on the working knitting needle, and knit the next loop with the wrong side and pull it through the removed edge loop. Next, knit one loop at a time, pulling it into the loop knitted earlier.
Step 6
Securing the loops with a needle. This is the most time-consuming method, but when applied, the edge of the workpiece is especially neat and elastic. When closing the edge of the cap with this method, take a needle with a blunt end. These needles are commonly used for cross stitching.
Step 7
In the last two rows, knit with the front loops, and remove the purl loops on the working knitting needle without knitting. In this case, the thread should be in front of the canvas. Insert the needle into the hem, remove from the knitting needle and tighten the thread. Then insert the needle into the loop on the left knitting needle, but do not remove the loop itself. Pass the needle again through the knit stitch on the right side of the fixed section of the fabric, and at the same time into the next knit stitch on the knitting needle. After that, insert the needle again into the purl loop on the knitting needle, tighten the thread, and then remove the two loops from the knitting needle.
